Oliver goes to Sweetbottoms & Lunches with friends

Tuesday Oliver and I met Laura, Logan and Liam at Berry's Cafe for lunch and then headed next door to Sweetbottoms, a really neat baby store that sells cloth diapers, baby carriers, toys ect... Laura was interested in checking out the store and trying on a toddler Tula. I have a standard size Tula and absolutely love it. Matt says that I should be getting referral rewards for all the talking up I do about it. I think it is such a comfy carrier for both me and Oliver and I love all of the cute patterns that they have out. Ours is called Click, which is perfect since Matt is a photographer.

We came home and Oliver had some nursies and then took a little over an hour nap (yay!) When he woke up we watched some videos of when he was just a tiny baby and then went to the post office to ship some Christmas presents and pick up some stamps (Rudolf the red nose reindeer) for our cards.

Wednesday Oliver and I met my friend Carrie for lunch at Aversboro restaurant in Garner. We had a nice time catching up and Oliver made a friend with a nice older gentleman at the table next to us. He gave Oliver a 1971 silver dollar to put in his piggy bank. He stopped by to chat with me and Carrie before going on his way. After he left the waitress told us to have a nice afternoon and that the gentleman had paid for our lunches! What a unexpected treat!

I'm going to try this again

As I sit here looking through Katie's blog from the past almost 8 years I am regretting that I have let mine go for the past couple of years. It is not like I have had a shortage of things to write about. March 2013 was my last blog post and June 2010 was the one before that. Since June 2010 we have most importantly, had a beautiful, wonderful, amazing baby boy, Oliver. Oliver is by far the biggest joy in our lives. I feel so honored that I get to be his mom. I am going to try and chronicle not just the big things that we do but the truly everyday little things. He is growing so, so fast and I have already forgotten what it was like to hold a little tiny newborn. I wish I could go back in time and write about how I felt being pregnant and what it was like the night before he was born. Him latching for the first time in the first hour after being born and how our beautiful breastfeeding relationship has become one of my most cherished times. Seeing him smile the first time, that first little laugh, sitting up and crawling. So, I am going to try and record as many memories as I can here, in my little blog to try and capture our lives as a new little family.

Giant Raleigh Picture

Matt had a client order a very large canvas wrap of Raleigh and when they got it, it was messed up in the corner. They ordered a new one and Matt offered to take the old one because it was so big and it would be hard to get rid of it. Now we have this giant picture! I like it a lot and I don't think that the mistake really looks all that bad. Now to find the perfect place for it...

It has been a long time since I last blogged. Rather than try and catch up on the last 2.5 years I am going to start fresh! I am in no way saying I will be any better at keeping up but I am going to try.

I am really into taking crafty classes as of late. I am almost done with a quilt class that I am taking. Quilting is a lot of work and I have not even started the actual quilting process yet. I have taken two jewelry classes that have been a lot of fun and I have another one in April that i am looking forward to. I am taking a hat class at a yarn shop in Cary, I hope I am able to do it. I am not the most competent knitter. I have not really knitted anything for the past 8 or so months. Knitting is not a fast hobby, finishing one project takes awhile and I am not very fast. I am not patient enough to wait until I am finished with something before I am ready to move on to the next thing.

Happy Birthday to me! and I am back

I have not blogged in two months. A lot has happened and I kept putting this off because I did not feel like taking the time to make millions of blog posts to catch everyone up. I have decided that I am going to start a new and not worry about playing catch up. I am going to slowly try and put some pictures and stories of notable things that happened this summer. (Mostly Italy in May, Philadelphia for Deke's wedding. NYC and meeting John Mayer and Hilary Swank. Boston to see Katie and the family. A new niece or nephew was announced. Pittsburgh in July for what was supposed to be a fun 30th birthday trip for Matt which turned out to be horrible because Beau got sick. A recent 24 hour trip to DC for the heck of it.) All of that is to come...

Today was my 28th birthday. Matt and I went to Hot Wieners for lunch and then spent the rest of the day doing my favorite past time. SHOPPING! :-o My parents tagged along in the afternoon and we had dinner after going to Anthropologie. It was a wonderful day.

How does your garden grow?

We came home to a garden in full bloom! Our lettuce and spinach is ready and we have already gotten some cucumbers and jalapenos. Everything is so big and so close together that it is hard to see what we have....so we have missed some cucumbers....resulting in some really big ones! There are tomatoes of all kinds that we are just waiting to turn red! Our gardenias smell awesome and the lilies are super vibrant.

Matt and I are on our way to Rome! We are now sitting in the airport in Raleigh waiting to board our flight to JFK.

Beau was none too pleased when we told her that she and Grayson were going to be left behind for two weeks. Although, I think that she will be spoiled by her Pa taking her for walks everyday and Grayson will enjoy the daily treats!
